Commodore Dale E. Fajardo will speak to Lessons on Leadership. Commodore Fajardo joined the Auxiliary in 2010. He has been elected to be a Flotilla Commander four times, a Division Vice Commander twice, Division Commander, and District Captain-Prevention for District 11 North.

Professionally, he is the Vice President for Education for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and leads the Academy’s clinical education, professional development, and publication programs.

Commodore Fajardo holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Naval Academy, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii, and a Doctor of Education from the University of Southern California.

Conner M. Jorgensen '23 received a direct commission offer through the Selected Reserve Direct Commission (SRDC) Program and another offer through the Direct Commission Selected Schools (DCSS) Program.

Conner is a Civil and Environmental Engineering major, a record holding member of the VMI D1 NCAA Men's varsity Swim Team, a Golf Company Cadet 2nd Lieutenant, and a ray of sunshine. He will be commissioning into the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves and will also work as a Structural Engineer at Wiley Wilson.

"I had given up on my hope of being an officer in the Coast Guard." Conner had initially applied to the Coast Guard Academy to fulfil his dream of becoming a Coast Guard officer, but unfortunately was not accepted. "This program brought back my hope and helped me achieve a dream I thought was gone." The VMI AUP program provided a new way to compete for a commission that was not available before. Conner wants to be a part of the Coast Guard's Marine Environmental Protection mission or the Incident Management team. When asked about his thoughts and feelings on earning a commission, he said "It makes me so incredibly proud that I'm able to commission with my brother rats. This whole experience has taught me that you can't achieve anything alone and that you can always count on your brother rats to be there for you."

AUP receives Operational Support Award

Sector Boston, Boston, MA - April 24, 2022: U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary First District Northern Region 2021 Awards Lunch

Cameron Craveiro, an Auxiliary University Program Cadet from Massachusetts Maritime Academy, received an Operational Support Award for having the 3rd highest hours of Administrative Coast Guard Support for the year in the District. Mr Craveiro, a member of Flotilla 013 - 06 - 03 logged 283 administrative support hours in 2021. He graduates from MMA this June and has been accepted to OCS .
